There's a twang of rockabilly glam in Versace's collection for men's wear spring/summer 2011.
Trousers are super slim and finish at the ankle. Suits are worn with silver chains and necklaces instead of ties. And here's the rockabilly twist worthy of Lyle Lovett or Dwight Yoakam and at home in the hippest Austin club fringe.
There was fringe on a black leather jacket, fringe on long black leather pants on a bare-chested, well-tatooed model, and black fringe on a mid-length white jacket, collar up, that conjures images of Elvis Presley. The suits were tight and the fabric shiny, attention grabbing, with optical prints meant to create a kaleidoscopic effect, appearing to magnify and shrink.
Donatella Versace places extra emphasis on the shoes, meant to provide a glamorous finish to the ensemble, and the pants are tailored short or rolled up to draw attention to them. Her shoes are two-tone black and white tie-ups, or ankle boots with silver buckles, or they can be embroidered with zippers, feature studs, and buckles with the trademark Versace Medusa.
