In World Cup news, Germany powered into the quarterfinals by crushing England 4-1 on Sunday.
In an incident-packed game, Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski took advantage of some shambolic defending by the Three Lions to put Germany 2-0 up after 32 minutes before Matthew Upson headed one back.
Minutes later, a shot by England's Frank Lampard went over the goalkeeper, hit the bar and bounced behind the goal-line. But neither Uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda nor his assistants saw the goal, and waved play on. Thomas Mueller finished two quick counter attacks within four minutes inthe second half to sink England's hopes of beating Germany at the World Cup for the first time since the 1966 final. The English suffered their worst ever defeat at a world cup tournament.
