The biggest winner at this year's Golden Melody Awards is A-Mei Chang, who has taken home six prizes.

Among her haul are some major titles, including Best Mandarin Female Singer, Best Song, and Best Album. These victories have cemented a huge comeback for the singer.

After being unsuccessful at awards shows for the last eight years, A-Mei renewed her image by seeking out new musical directions, and using her aboriginal name, A-Mit, during recent performances, and on her latest album release.

Heavy rainfall greeted the stars and guests arriving for Saturday's festivities. Though not in attendance at this year's event, David Tao won five prizes, including the Best Mandarin Male Singer.

The Golden Melody Awards, the most indicative Chinese language music show, is an annual awards ceremony which started in the early 1990s to promote the industry.
