Germany chancellor Angela Merkel visited the Museum of the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses in Xi'an in northwest China's Shaanxi Province on Saturday, the last day of her four-day official visit to China.
Like other visitors, the German Chancellor was excited when seeing the terra-cotta warriors and horses. She took a series of photos on a mobile phone to capture the scene.
Merkel was very curious about the stories behind the terra-cotta.
She said, "I don't quite understand why not dig Qinshihuang's mausoleum out."
Wu Yongqi, Curator of Museum of Terra-cotta, "The reasons are quite complicated. For example, environmental factors like temperature and humidity will have a great impact on them."
Merkel was impressed by the artistic achievements of 2000 years ago.
After the one and half hour visit, she told the press that more people should come to visit the exhibition to enjoy the historic atmosphere.
