Saturday marks the 79th anniversary of Japan's invasion of northeast China. It is also the tenth day for national defense education.
Schools and museums around China are holding ceremonies to remember the martyrs who fought and died in the war.
In northeast Heilongjiang province, soldiers and students sounded the siren of this year's commemoration. In east China's Shandong province, museums and exhibitions have seen a surge of students to commemorate the anniversary.
They have taken special lessons to remember the Chinese people's fight against the Japanese invasion. Many say remembering history will help them cherish peace.
