China's first trial over discrimination against an HIV-positive job-seeker has opened in Anqing city, in East China's Anhui Province.
The trial involves a college graduate in the city, who is known by the alias of Xiao Wu. He was denied a teaching job by the Anqing Department of Education for being HIV-positive, which is in line with the standard for civil servants.
The case involves two issues. The first is whether it's legal for the department to reject Xiao Wu. The second is whether it's legal for the department to use civil servant recruitment criteria. The final decision will be released no later than the end of November.
