Leading Chinese white goods maker, Haier wants to be more competitive in the fridge industry. Its two proposals on safety technology have been approved by the International Electro-technical Commission, and announced as international standards.
The week-long 74th IEC meeting began today, to coincide with the World Standards Day. More than 2800 companies and organizations are participating, making it the largest meeting since the IEC's founding. As the only Chinese fridge maker at the meeting, Haier's proposals being approved is significant, because it breaks the pattern of technical standards been set by European and US companies.
Dr. Wang Haijun, Engineer of Haier Group said "17 proposals in total have been passed on the meeting. That proves China is transferring from a country focusing on manufacturing to innovation. Additionally, Haier's creativity has been recognized by the world. It has more say and higher status in the industry."
