Dozens of climate change protestors in the UK have blockaded a road leading to an oil refinery. They claim to have prevented nearly four hundred thousand gallons of fuel from leaving the depot.
Dozens blockaded the main route to a British oil refinery in a protest against climate change.
The activists say they stopped more than 50 tankers getting to and from the Coryton plant in the South-East England region of Essex.
Ptotestor, said, "We are stopping the flow of oil to London as we speak so well done everyone."
The protesters blockaded the road to the refinery for more than seven hours.
The event was part of a global week of action against the fossil fuel industry which the organisers accuse of worsening climate change.
Dan Glass, Spokesman, Crude Awakening Coalition, said, "We saw what the damage is, for example in the Gulf of Mexico, when it comes to our relationship with oil. We don't want it to happen again. We can see the government, and not just this government either, still funding the oil businesses. We still see deep sea oil, deep sea drilling, and that just cannot happen if we are ever going to tackle the run-away climate change."
There was a significant police presence at the scene of the demonstration which passed off noisily but peacefully.
