One of the surprise stars of the South Africa World Cup has passed away.

Paul the octopus, who shot to fame in the World Cup this summer for his uncanny ability to predict the results of soccer matches, has died at the age of two.

Paul correctly predicted all seven German matches and even got the final correct, picking Spain over the Netherlands.

Paul however, will reportedly live on through a host of commercial enterprises ranging from special clothing lines to mobile phone applications.
