Nuclear waste leaves for storage site in Gorleben

 Trucks carrying 11 castors of nuclear waste have left a transfer station in northern Germany for a waste storage facility in Gorleben after police removed thousands of protesters from the route.

The nuclear waste is sent from France by train. The consignment have already been delayed by more than a day by protests and blockades. Over 2,400 anti-nuclear activists in Gorleben gathered along the main road and two other routes leading to the storage site.
