Noted Myanmar political figure Aung San Suu Kyi, has been freed by the government after the terms of her house arrest expired.

The leader of the "dissolved" National League for Democracy has spent 15 of the past 21 years in detention.

The latest period started in 2003 and was extended last August, when a court convicted her for allowing an American intruder to stay at her home for two nights.
