Europe has recently been gripped by a big freeze with heavy snowfall. The arctic temperatures have disrupted travel across the region.

In Germany, more than 1-hundred flights were cancelled on Monday in Munich and Frankfurt. Many more were delayed. Commuters who woke up to snow-covered streets struggled to work in the crawling traffic.

Stranded Passenger, Frankfurt, Germany, said, "We are not getting any information. We're standing in line here at the counter and then we're being sent somewhere else. They tell us 'we can't help you.' I asked several people, but to no avail."

In the UK, temperatures reached record lows in Scotland and Wales over the weekend. Over 6-hundred travelers stranded in Perth were given emergency accommodation at a sports hall. A volunteer agency provided food and hot drinks throughout the night.

Stranded Traveler, Perth, Scotland, said, "Every place was booked up, no vacancies, so we landed here, and very good it was to because, oh dear, it was grim, grim, grim."

Also in Poland, France and Austria, many areas were overwhelmed by heavy snow, causing traffic snarl ups and delays for commuters.

Meteorologists predict the cold spell will continue through the week, with more snow and heavy frost forecast for large parts of Europe.
