The nasty weather conditions and low visibility of less than five meters have stranded more than four-hundred vehicles.
A driver on National Highway 304 said, "Even the bottled water in the truck was frozen. I've been here for more than 30 hours."
Rescue workers were quickly mobilized to send food and water to stranded drivers. Most of them were transferred to the nearest service stations and gas stations by coaches and trucks. No casualties have been reported.
Tractor shovels have been clearing away the ice along the route. After a whole night's efforts, the highway became smooth again. But local authorities warn traffic could face further disruption, as the weather hasn't cleared up.
