A report by the Ministry of Civil Affairs says nearly three fourths of foundations in China lack transparency. As public institutions, foundations should make their financial situation and implementation of projects public, the two areas their participants care about most.
According to the report, more than half of those surveyed pay close attention to the publication of information by the foundations. But the reality falls short of expectations. About 90 percent are not satisfied with the level of transparency while only four percent feel otherwise. Nearly 90 percent have never received any feedback from these public institutions after participation. Only two percent of them say they often get feedback.
