A survey of 56 leading economists show that China's high inflation rate could continue well until the second or even third quarter of this year.
The survey, conducted by Beijing-based Economic Observer, a weekly newspaper, shows about 21 percent believe the current high inflation rate may last until the third quarter, while nearly two thirds say inflation could ease by the second quarter.
About one third believes rising international commodity prices and increasing food prices at home will be the two major factors pushing the index higher while another third sees excessive liquidity in the market as the major factor.
