As one of the industry's premiere events, the Detroit Auto Show opened its doors for press previews on Monday. And Environmentally-friendly cars look to be leading the way.

General Motors and Ford have driven off with the top car and truck awards, and have plenty of fresh, new models on display.

At the International Auto Show in Detroit, auto companies seem to be racing to turn environmentally friendly cars into a mass market idea.

Toyota, who led the pack with Prius, is expanding the concept from just a small electric plug-in hybrid to a larger crossover wagon.

Porsche makes its first return to the Detroit auto show in 4 years. The Porsche 918 RSR comes with all the excitement and pizzaz of a flashy race car- but with a green twist: this is a gas-electric hybrid.

But pure electric has been a big win for General Motors. The Chevy Volt received the top honor at the show. GM North America President Mark Reuss says electric is only part of the strategy.
