President Hu Jintao conducted an interview Monday with the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post. The dialogue comes a day before his state visit to the U.S..
During the interview, President Hu proposed four points to further advance China-US ties. He says both countries should increase dialogue and contact, enhance strategic mutual trust and abandon the zero-sum Cold War mentality. He also suggests both countries respect each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity and make constant efforts to expand both countries' converging interests. Hu also says China would firmly continue with its opening-up policy and work with the international community to contribute to the overall recovery of the world economy.
