China will continue giving priority to building public transport to ease traffic congestion. The commitment comes from Vice Minister of Transport Weng Mengyong.
Weng addressed the issue of urban congestion. He says current investment in public transport and infrastructure are both insufficient. He says the Ministry of Transport will keep easing traffic congestion a primary task in the coming years.
Policies and regulations will be mapped out, including collecting public opinions. Municipal cities will be taken as model cities. Hubs will also be increased to reduce delays when transferring and real-time traveller services will be enhanced. Weng Mengyong also stressed the need for safety and emergency plans in public transport.
