Iran's official IRNA news agency says the country has test-fired a surface-to-air missile near its Khondab nuclear sites.

A military commander confirms the mid-range Hag missile successfully hit its target near the sites. The surface-to-air missile which has been upgraded by experts from one of the country's Air Defense Bases, aims to test and evaluate the efficiency of the Hag launch system.

The operation can also enhance the technical and operational skills of Iran's military. Officials say Iran will conduct such tests from time to time to stay on full alert.
