Drinkers in Hong Kong no longer have to worry about queuing up at the bar or attracting the attention of a waitress. Now they can browse the menu and order a round without even leaving their table.

Here's the secret. It's a smart bar table. Not only does it know what you're drinking, but it can also order another round.

Here's an invention to please anybody who's ever been stuck for ages in a queue at the bar.

Like a giant touchscreen tablet computer, this is the "Surface" table.

It was first unveiled by American software giant Microsoft in April 2008. Now it's being introduced to the Asian market.

The table houses a 30 inch screen and using Microsoft's PixelSense software, responds to touch and real world objects with more than 50 simultaneous inputs.

In this instance the bottles of beer and cider have been tagged.

Drinkers can see what's in their drink, where it's from, or have similar drinks recommended.

The screen is fully interactive through 360 degrees, so wherever you're sitting around the table, you'll get a clear view.

The table is enabled with Bluetooth technology and can communicate directly to smartphones. This means any information in the table can be stored in your handset.

Some countries already using the "Surface" table include the US and Germany.
