Chenshan Botanical Garden, which features Asia's biggest greenhouse, officially opens on Sunday in Songjiang District in Shanghai. Its greenhouse boasts more than 9000 breeds of plants from all over the world.

Covering an area of 12 thousand square meters, the greenhouse is divided into three parts, one for rare plants, another for sand plants and the third for tropical plants. The average temperature in the greenhouse will be kept at 25 degrees centigrade all year round.

The botanical garden has already been open on a trial basis and has received good reviews from tourists from both home and abroad.

There are 26 theme gardens in the center display area. The garden has a unique collection of plants indigenous to eastern parts of China. It is also home to over 9000 species of plants and flowers.

The garden is anticipated to be the largest botanical garden in east China.
