This year's Davos world economic forum will see dozens of state leaders, and 14-hundred scholars and business leaders take part.

Leading philanthropist and billionaire investor, George Soros, who is also the founder of the Quanta Fund, will be attending. Many will be waiting for Soros' opinion on the world's changing economic landscape. Another high profile figure will be Word Bank President, Robert Zoellick.

Currently, most governments are struggling to reign in ballooning deficits and are trying to raise state revenues. The World Bank President's opinions will definitely be watched closely. Also attending will be Joseph Stiglitz, who won the 2001 Nobel Prize in Economics. At this year's forum, he will address the new reality of state-led capitalism, after state enterprises proved their resilience in driving global growth in the aftermath of the financial crisis that started in 2008.

And finally, one of the world's most powerful leaders, Russia's President, Dmitry Medvedev, will be attending. Due to the recent bombing of Moscow's busiest airport, President Medvedev had to delay his arrival. Although he won't be attending the opening ceremony, he is expected to address the forum later this week.
