China wins bronze in X-country skiing

A quiet day four for China in Kazakhstan. China winning only one medal on the day...a bronze in women's cross country skiing.

In the 5-kilometer traditional event, the skaters were not allowed to use the skate ski technique, only the traditional style. China's Li Hongxue was the fifth ranked skier among the eight taking part in the finals. After three kilometers of racing, Li sat in third position.

Li would push hard to the finish, but wasn't able to catch either of the two skiers ahead of her.

Japan's Masaki Ishida would cross the line in first. Her compatriot Madoka Natsumi would win the silver.

China's Li winning the bronze, while fellow Chinese skiier Man Dandan finished 6th.

JAPAN WINS MEN'S 10-KM X-COUNTRY

Six competitors took part in the men's classic 10-kilometer cross-country event.

Japanese skiier Keishin Yoshida ranked 4th heading into the race...but would jump out quickly to take the lead and held it all the way.

Yoshida would cross the finish line a healthy 43.5 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor, Nikolay Chebotko of Kazakhstan who took the silver, fellow Kazakh Alexey Poltoranin would take the bronze.

KAZAKHSTAN WINS SKIING FREESTYLE GOLD

Young Chinese skier Ning Qin took part in the women's freestyle skiing dual moguls. She put up a solid performance to reach the quarter-finals. However, Ning would lose in the quarter's to Japan's Miki Ito and finished in sixth place. Kazakhstan's Yuliya Galysheva took the title, while Kazakstan's Dmitiry Barmashov won the men's dual moguls.

BIATHLON RESCHEDULED DUE TO BAD WEATHER

A blanket of fog caused the postponement and the eventual cancellation of the women's 15km individual Biathlon. The race has been rescheduled for Friday.
