In Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, a blizzard is continuing to hit western Ali Prefecture and southern Xigaze, dumping up to a meter of snow.
Heavy snow has paralyzed stretches of local highways, stranding at least 29 people since Tuesday. Armed police in the area have organized a task force to rescue them and keep traffic moving. By Friday, 46 miles of roads had been cleared and everyone rescued.
The local Meteorological Center says the week-long storm will continue but move to other parts of the region in the next few days.
