The Chinese mainland and Taiwan have jointly proposed further developing economic and cultural ties and the creation of an information sharing mechanism on nuclear power safety. The proposal was put forward during the Cross-Strait Economic, Trade and Culture Forum, which concluded on Sunday in Chengdu of southwest Sichuan Province.
Forum participants addressed issues including implementing the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement, boosting cross-strait tourism, and strengthening exchanges among young people. A total of 19 proposals were put forward on how to improve ties in areas such as finance, agriculture and intellectual property protection.
