Besides dragon boat racing and eating "Zongzi", Chinese people also celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival by following other ancient traditions. Children wearing sachets has been a practice since ancient times.

The sachet is seen as a talisman that can repel misfortune. In Ningbo city in eastern China's Zhejiang Province, seniors make the sachets for the children. With various spices wrapped up in silk and colorful threads tying them up in a line, they carry not only a pleasant scent but also festive blessings.

On Yimeng mountain in Shandong Province, people collect Asiatic wormwood to bring peace and safety. Ancient Chinese people used to wear wormwood during the festival to send their love to family members far away. The fragrant plant can also drive away mosquitos.
