The ministry says trial prices for the high-speed railway will be set according to two different speeds. The full fare price of a second class seat, at 300 kilometers per hour, will be 555 yuan. And the price of the same ticket in trains running at 250 kilometers per hour is 410 yuan.

The Beijing-Shanghai High Speed line is aimed at boosting capacity between the two cities. It can carry 220 thousand passengers a day. The 13 hundred kilometer long line is expected to reduce the current rail travel time between Beijing and Shanghai from 14 hours to just five.
