Zhao Guotang, Chief Engineer of Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway Co. said "The Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway reflects a big step for China's railway development.It includes the high stability of bridges and tunnels, smooth-riding features, a reliable telecommunication system."
The railway links the country's five major transport hubs, including Beijing, Tianjin and Jinan.
Many say it will be a great boom for local economies.
Exectutive Vice Mayor of Jinan City said "We're planning the establishment of a new city centered around the high-speed railway, it's expected to cover more than 100 square kilometers."
Being the longest high-speed railway in the world, the Beijing-Shanghai line connects a quarter of China's population and more than 40-percent of its economic power. It means more residents are expected to enjoy the anticipated boom on the tracks.
