A forum organized by the Beijing Municipal Finance Bureau, the National Energy Research Institute and the Beijing Green Finance Association was launched this morning in the nation's capital. Its aim is to promote sustainable development of the financial system.

This list ranks the Chinese enterprises which have the best rewards for voluntary reductions in greenhouse gases.

The measurement of their efforts is also known as the Panda standard.

On top of the ranking, is China Everbright Bank.

Dai Bing, general manager of credit card center of China Everbright Bank, said, "She says the new system is both an opportunity and a responsibility. A Green credit mechanism needs to be set up to promote a new mode of financing and create innovative financial carbon products."

Many believe the new concept of "Buying carbon emission" credits should not rule out learning from other countries.

According to Li Junfeng, Deputy director of the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, there is no country that can claim to be an example of a perfect attempt to reduce carbon emission.

Li said, "The US with a population of 300 million utilizes 20 percent of the world’s energy. Japan ranks 3rd or 4th in terms of energy consumption, and South Korea is also among the top ten on that list. None of these countries have realized true low carbon development. All of us are on the way, to be exact, at the starting line."

Rounds of discussions are expected to be held by all social sectors, especially the big emitters in heavy industries with the aim of forming a highly efficient system of energy production and consumption.
