Shoton is Tibetan for yoghurt banquet. Originally a religious activity, it was a time when Buddhist pilgrims gave yoghurt to nuns and monks after they had their summer retreat. Thangka paintings depicting Tibetan opera and horse racing are to be presented during the festivities.
