There are no reports of casualties, but witnesses said they saw the pilot was ejected before the fighter jet fell.
Xinhua reporters saw heavy smoke billow up at the scene.
The air show is still going on, Xinhua reporters said.

The fighter jet of FBC-1, also known as Flying Leopard, is manufactured by the Xi'an Aircraft Industry Corp.
The air show is part of the China International General Aviation Convention that is being held in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi.
