The iPhone 4S, the latest member of the Apple family, has become the hottest product for Hong Kong tech junkies. Today is the official release date for the new iPhone in Hong Kong. But hoards of enthusiastic fans have already have lined up outside Apple's flagship store in Central, some having camped out for several days.

But many of the iPhones getting snapped up will ended up across the border, on the Mainland. Chinese on the mainland are voracious consumers of Apple products, and prefer to buy from Hong Kong where the phones can be used without being unlocked.

Resale prices, of course, are high - and will likely remain so until the latest model goes on sale on the Mainland.

Apple mania in Hong Kong reached fever pitch yesterday, until police were called to maintain an orderly queue.
