'Super Dan' coasts to Hong Kong badminton title

Sunday's final of badminton's Hong Kong Open, bringing an all-Chinese match-up and a meeting between the last two World Champions. Reigning champ Lin Dan, who ended the hopes of Malaysian arch-rival and world number one Lee Chong Wei in the semi-finals, was looking to win the title over compatriot and 2010 World Champ Chen Jin.

After a closely fought opening to the match, the left-handed Lin took an early 6-3 advantage. "Super Dan" always looked in control and halfway through the first game, he led 14-12. Then the 28-year-old Beijing Olympic champion won seven consecutive points to seal the first game 21-12. Lin, hit a total of eight smash winners in the game.

The second game was more closely fought as Chen refused to let Lin run away again. This one, very close throughout, but it would be the 2011 world champion Lin, who wrapped up the Hong Kong title with a 21-19 win, sealing the match in 31 minutes.
