The 12th National Winter Games will begin on January 3 in Jilin Province with the Beidahu Ski Resort hosting the biathlon on January 4. The renowned Bayi team is already settling in hoping to defend their title yet again.

Team Bayi arrived at the resort more than 8 days ago. The team consists of Chinese National team members who have raced to the Winter Games straight from the completion of the World Cup in Austria.

The biathlon combines cross country skiing and shooting, both strengths of the Bayi team hailing from the People’s Liberation Army.

Bayi won 9 of the 10 golds in biathlon at the last Winter Games. Wang Chunli, already boasts a gold of from this year’s Asian Winter Games in Kazakhstan despite limited training after being injured at the Vancouver Winter Olympics. It’ll be Wang’s 3rd Winter Games and of course, she’s aiming to win.

Wang said: "I am very relaxed this year compared to the last two Winter Games. My physcial condition hasn’t been too good for a while so I have missed some training, my goal is to just try my best."
