Popular restaurants have enjoyed a surge in bookings over the three day new year holiday.

In some well-known restaurants, private rooms were booked out long before the start of 2012. But it's nothing compared to how busy they'll be during the Spring Festival, with bookings for Lunar New Year's Eve being made up to seven months ago.

The restaurants say some customers have even enquired about booking a table for 2013.
