To mark the International Day for Protecting Consumer Rights, China's State Administration of Industry and Commerce has published a report regarding complaint cases it received in 2011. The report shows a downturn in the amount of cases compared to 2010.
Last year, the Administration received over six million complaints. Over 60 percent of the product quality complaints target home appliances and consumer goods. And among the service complaints, over 40 percent were centered on the telecommunication industry.
Online shoppers have raised their complaints by nearly half compared to that of last year. Officials from the Administration say more consumers than before are paying greater attention to product quality.
