Forest fire in Yunnan spreads to provincial capital Kunming

A forest fire that started in Yimen County in Southwest China's Yunnan province has spread to its provincial capital Kunming. That's according to the local forest fire prevention unit.

The city has committed over 500 firefighters and helicopters to assist them in putting out the blaze. But strong winds and dry weather are creating challenges for firefighters.

The fire first broke out at dusk in Yimen County on Sunday and approached the neighbouring Kunming by early morning Monday. It's estimated that so far over 160 acres of land have been scorched, but there has been no reports of human casualties.
