The Ministry of Commerce on Monday welcomed the European Commission's review of 52 anti-dumping measures against Chinese fasteners, saying the European Union should rectify its investigations that violate World Trade Organization rules.

The review is the result of WTO rulings over the EU's anti-dumping charges against Chinese carbon steel fasteners. In that ruling, the WTO said the EU's anti-dumping measures are inconsistent with its WTO obligations, and added that it violated WTO rules in terms of applying single anti-dumping duties against Chinese exports.

The Vice Chairman from the China Association of International trade said the process of the review is vital.

According to the General Administration of Customs, China-EU trade has thrived in recent years. The EU remains China's largest trading partner, while China is the EU's second largest.

Last year, the volume of bilateral trade reached more than 560 billion US dollars, an 18 percent increase year-on-year.

Li said the review provides opportunities for Chinese firms to claim their rights.

Since the review is wide reaching, experts believe that the enterprises should seize this opportunity to respond actively and get good results.

A spokesman from the Ministry of Commerce says he hopes the EU will implement the WTO ruling as soon as possible, and fully correct the practices of its anti-dumping investigation that violate WTO rules, in order to ensure Chinese companies are treated fairly.
