As the world marks Earth Day, a library in the Chinese capital is holding an event to raise awareness on climate change.

To mark the earth day, Beijing's capital library has collaborated with 20 libraries and some publishers, to hold a book exchanging event.

Long lines formed outside the library early on Sunday, as people were eager to exchange their books.

Mr. Zhang, who loves to read business magazines says he never wanted to sell off his magazine collection, but is happy to exchange them.

He said, "This is a very good way, and the volunteers have categorized it, which is convenient for us to pick from. This is a very good method to pursue a low carbon and environmentally friendly lifestyle."

People of all ages are taking part.

This child accompanied by her parents says exchanging books is very meaningful.

Methods like these are helping encourage people to spread awareness of a low carbon lifestyle, while also saving on the costs of buying additional books.
