Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi has reaffirmed China's stance on the Syrian crisis, in a telephone conversation with Annan, the UN-Arab League special envoy.

Yang urged the international community to fully support Annan's efforts in ending the violence. Annan, for his part, briefed Yang about plans to call an international conference on the Syrian issue, and creating a "contact group." The move aims to implement related UN Security Council resolutions and to facilitate a political solution to the Syria crisis.
