Rio+20 Earth Summit to begin in Brazil

Leaders from more than 190 nations are heading for Brazil for the upcoming UN Conference on Sustainable Development. Lasting from June 20th to 22nd and taking place in Rio de Janeiro, the meeting is aimed at producing a series of political agreements to improve people's standard of living and protect the environment.

As many as 30,000 representatives from around the world are expected to attend the three-day UN conference. This year's summit marks the 20th anniversary of the landmark conference that was originally hosted in Rio De Janero back in 1992.

China says it's looking to work with relevant parties to achieve comprehensive, positive and pragmatic results. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is set to attend this year's meeting and while in Latin American he will also be paying official visits to Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.
