Premier Wen Jiabao has met Chile's President Sebastian Pinera in Santiago on the last stop of a trade-boosting tour that also took him to Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. Wen's visit aims at strengthening economic relations between Asia and Latin America.
During the official visit to Chile, the two countries agreed to extend their 2006 free-trade deal and export deals for agricultural products. Wen suggested promoting trade in services and mutual investment, hoping the volume of trade would double by 2015.
He urged more cooperation in the mineral industry, infrastructure construction, tourism, and cultural exchanges. Pinera noted that the Chilean side fully agreed with Wen's suggestions, welcoming Chinese enterprises to invest in Chile. After the meeting, the two leaders attended a signing ceremony for the bilateral cooperation documents.
