Saturday's downpours brought travel disruption for passengers at Beijing's Capital International Airport. Thousands were affected by the delays. With not enough buses or taxis to shuttle passengers home, many people volunteered to step in, and become chauffeurs for the night.
Three o’clock in the morning.
Thousands of passengers still trapped at Beijing Capital International Airport.
Some can’t go home as there are not enough taxis and buses.
But help has come.
Volunteers have arrived to drive passengers home.
Car owner said, "So many people are trapped here. I can’t stay at home and do nothing. I live near the airport and I want to offer my help."
Things initially became a little chaotic.
But the police arrived to find parking places for the volunteers
Zhou Zhenjian with Beijing international airport traffic team said, "We didn’t know they were coming at first. Now, I’m arranging for them to come in order. They’re really offering lot’s of help at this time because it’s so hard for passengers to go home right now."
Many of the stranded passengers have been touched by the generosity.
Passenger said, "I couldn’t find a taxi and felt very nervous because I thought I wouldn’t be able to get home. I didn’t think so many people would come to help. I really thank them a lot."
Some of the volunteers came back more than once, throughout the night.
Despite a sleepless night, they said they just wanted to ensure every passenger had a safe and sound journey home.
