It's exactly 50 years since hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe died from a drugs overdose. A death that was widely suspected as suicide.

But her untimely passing is still a source of mystery for many fans and conspiracy theorists alike. The fans paying tribute to a celebrity taken too soon and why she’s still remembered and revered, 50 years on.

Just walk through Hollywood and you'll be bombarded by her timeless presence - particulary this week.

Mary Simms, President of Immortal Marilyn Fan Club, said, "we're celebrating the life of Marilyn Monroe this 50th year of her passing."

On Sunday - the half-centennial anniversary of her death- tens of thousands are expected to descend on Los Angeles to remember her life

Simms said, "We've got them from Germany, france, Italy, spain, Belgium, Australia, new Zealand..

And Scotland too ...

"I took 25 hours, but I made it."

Greg Schreiner, President of Marilyn Remembered, said, "probably, one of the world’s largest collections of Marilyn memorabilia."]To never before seen photos at this Marilyn Monroe Museum exhibit.

Schreiner said, "Well I have 12 of her gowns from her movies. I have furniture from her home. I have her director’s chair. I have scripts of hers, contracts, autographed checks."

This is "their week with Marilyn. "

A week which culminates at Marilyn’s Childhood theater, The El Portal Complex, where the forum theater, will be renamed in Marilyn’s honor; parts of it, like this lipstick red loveseat, already redesigned - to forever reflect all that is was and will be Ms. Monroe.

"She said in her final interview, 'fame will go by, and so-long, I've had you fame."

Ironically - Marilyn’s fame has far outlasted her life.
