As world No. 2 and top seed Novak Djokovic met third seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France. Djokovic came into the match-up looking for a third title in Beijing following wins in 2009 and 2010.
The first set would be a back and forth affair as the two traded blows, and the opener would head to a tiebreak.
But there, Djokovic would hold firm downing Tsonga 7-3 in the tiebreak to take set one.
After a closely contested first set the second, would be very one-sided as Tsonga faltered and Djokovic took control. The Serb, cruising to a 6-2 second set win to take the China Open title in straight sets. The world number two, winning his third career title in Beijing and his 65th match of the season, the most of any player on the ATP Tour.
The women’s final is currently on court featuring a great matchup of the top two players on the globe, number one Victoria Azarenka and number two Maria Sharapova.
