China's telecom giant Huawei says a US congressional committee probe into whether its access to communications infrastructure poses a security risk is unlikely to affect its businesses in other overseas markets.
Earlier this month, the US House of Representatives issued a report urging US companies to stop doing business with Huawei and ZTE.
This has also prompted Canada and Britain to look into similar issues, sparking concerns that it could affect Huawei's business in other markets.
But, a senior vice president of Huawei says there will be NO impact on Huawei's overseas operations. He also notes that both sides are still talking, and that the US investigation is a sign of trade protectionism.
