Flood sweeps S. China's Guangxi

Torrential rains from Typhoon Son-Tinh have swept south Chinas Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. 70 ships are now missing, 6 have been confirmed sunk, and 1 stranded. No casualties have been reported so far.

Torrential rains from Typhoon Son-Tinh have swept south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. 

The heavy rain triggered flooding of the Beilun River in Dongxing City. The local government immediately launched search and rescue efforts. More than a thousand have been evacuated.

Strong rain is expected to continue over the next two days, triggering fears of landslides or other natural disasters.
