China, Thailand to boost ties

Premier Wen Jiabao is paying an official visit to Thailand to boost bilateral relations. His Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra held a welcoming ceremony for him. Wen Jiabao said China and Thailand have many favorable conditions and broad prospects in expanding cooperation.

He said China is ready to work with Thailand to implement economic and trade cooperation, particularly in the areas of transport, water projects, agriculture and investment. China also wants to continue cooperation along the Mekong River.

Premier Wen said China would like to assist Thai people in learning Chinese and promote youth exchanges and tourism cooperation.

Yingluck congratulated China on the success of its18th Party Congress. She looks forward to the two sides promoting trade and investment with an emphasis on manufacturing, agricultural products and infrastructure.

The two leaders attended the inauguration of the China Culture Center in Bangkok. They agreed to deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
