China's Xiong Zhaozhong has made history this weekend, becoming the first Chinese boxer to win a world title. He captured the vacant WBC interim-minimum weight with a twelfth round unanimous decision over Mexican fighter Javier Martinez.

China's Xiong Zhaozhong becomes the first Chinese boxer to win a world title. 

The match started with both boxers on the attack. But in the 5th round, Xiong cuts open his Mexican opponent's left eye with repeated shots to the head.

Martinez attempts a come-back, but was no match for his Chinese opponent, who was in total control. Xiong was dominant from start to finish and totally punished his rival.

China's Xiong Zhaozhong becomes the first Chinese boxer to win a world title. 

Xiong's recond now stands at 20 wins from 25 fights, 11 by knockout. The victory by Xiong in the 105-pound division is the first pro title ever by a Chinese boxer.
