After dropping the opening match of the exhibition tour named after him, world No. 2 Roger Federer was back in action on Saturday in Sao Paulo, taking on Jo-Wilfred Tsonga of France. The Roger Federer Tour, bringing some of the best men, women and doubles teams in the game to Brazil.
The Swiss master lost to Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci in his first match, but took control early on against Tsonga. Federer was up a break late in set one, leading 5-3. But Tsonga would pick up a late break and send it to a tie-break. Federer would however get the job done there to take set one.
With the momentum going Federer's way, the 2012 Wimbledon champion picked up his game in the second set. 31-year-old dispatched Tsonga by a more comfortable margin to pick up a straight sets win in front of an adoring crowd. 7-6, 6-3 for Federer.
